This provides introductory documentation for jMusic - a programming library for sound and music applications in Java (and also in Jython).

Pitch

  1. MIDI uses note pitches from 0-127.
  2. jMusic defines the following pitch constants for convenience.
  3. The following is a mapping of note names, MIDI numbers and frequencies:

  1. jMusic defines the following note rhythm values for convenience.
    • It includes both American and British names. For example,
      • whole note = semibreve
      • half note = minim
      • quarter note = crochet
      • eighth note = quaver
