# Create a personal web page from scratch, using HTML, as we did last time and discussed in our textbook in Chapter 4. Remember, you must create a file that contains the HTML code and store the file as clean ascii text. For convenience later, name the file index.htm
# Your web page must contain:
** Your name and a picture of you or a picture of something else that will remind people of you should be at the top of the page.
** A horizontal bar after your name and picture
** Include a short bibliography in list form including (an unordered list):
*** I’m a **** at CofC (replace **** with your classification and make “CofC” a clickable link to the college web site)
*** I’m majoring in ****
*** My hometown is *****
*** When not studying, I spend time doing ****, ****, **** (include however many things you’d like to mention)
*** A web site I find useful (or enjoy) is **** because ****. (Replace the first **** with a link to some website that you think people should read and replace the second **** with an explanation of why you think it is important or interesting.
** Follow the list with a paragraph telling a little about yourself: for example, what you hope to do after you complete your education.
** Leave several blank lines under the paragraph and end your page with a line that says “Last updated on ****” and replace **** with today’s date.
# Customize your page by choosing colors for the background and fonts. Add additional information, if you wish, but don’t forget any of the required elements.
# Verify that your page is just as you wish it to be by viewing it in a browser. It is actually a good idea to view it in more than one browser, like IE and Firefox, to make sure it looks good in both. If you are not satisfied with your web page, go back to earlier steps and make it look better before moving on to step 5.
# Post your page (index.htm and any picture file that it references) to your CofC webpace.

Subject: RE: Student Web Space
As a student, you automatically have space with which to publish a web
page. All you have to do is create your page using whatever program you
are using. Once you have created your web page, you will publish it to
a server named stu.cofc.edu.
The username / password you use is your domain account username and
password, so it is the first portion of your edisto email address (The
part before @edisto.cofc.edu) and your edisto password. You will need
to use a secure FTP client to post it, and directions on using one are
located at the following website: http://stu.cofc.edu/howto.php
Once you have copied it to the server, it is accessible at
http://YourEdistoName.stu.cofc.edu, substituting your username asappropriate.
If you have problems, you can contact StudentWebpage@cofc.edu.
