I looked at all the old tests that I have. They fell into three cateories:

about this stuff, but so different as to be of no help

so much like this test as to be too much of a givaway


Faced with this I decided to do the obvious and not put up any actual test
(the bad news). However, I am putting up a more detailed study sheet than
I had in class yesterday (the good news).

    header format
    RTO calculation (RTO means "retransmit timeout"
    flow control
    triggering of retransmission
    congestion control and its subtopics
	congestion window and its behavior
	congestion threshold and its behavior
	slow start mode: when it is in effect and how it operates
	congestion avoidance mode: when it is in effect and how it operates
	(all the above to include the contributions of Messrs Nagle, Karn,
	 Partridge, Jacobson, Karels, and whoever I forgot)

DNS as we discussed in class
    client operation
    local server operation in helping the client to resolve a name
    root server operation in helping the client to resolve a name
    domain server operation in helping the client to resolve a name
    sequences of packets transmitted in resolution
