Computing is not just for computer science educators anymore.
The Computer Science Department of the College of Charleston, with support from Google,
is offering a compelling computational experience for high school educators. The two-day workshop will provide educators with resources and ideas to help them introduce the principles of computer science to young people in a fun and relevant way.
Having completed the workshop, teachers will be able to inform their students of the exciting possibilities available to those who go on to study computer science in college. The workshop is designed for educators from all academic areas and will encourage those in attendance to incorporate their discipline with computer science.
This CS4HS camp will be held in the J.C. Long Building (9 Liberty Street) on the College of Charleston campus from July 28-29, 2011. Please see links below for more information, including a detailed workshop schedule, registration information, and driving directions.
Advantages of Workshop:
1. Discuss current technology and teaching methods
2. Develop relationships with technology minded professionals
3. Participating teachers will receive a certificate of completion for 20 continuing education hours.
4. Android tablets will be provided for use during the workshop. If teachers would like to keep a tablet, they can contribute $150 towards the purchase of the tablet at the end of the workshop.
