You may think that since it’s summer things around the Department of Computer Science have slowed down, but you’d be wrong! This summer, the Department of Computer Science at the College of Charleston has been busy hosting and participating in numerous conferences and workshops. In June, the College of Charleston hosted Best Buy’s Geek Squad Summer Academy (GSSA). Working together with Addlestone Library, we hosted 125 girls ages 9-17 during a 2 day Academy. Through interactive experiences, the girls took part in class in PC Hardware, Digital Music, Digital Photography, and Computer Programming.
Other sponsors and contributors to the 2-day academy included Girls’ Day Out Project, IT-oLogy, and Hardees.
