SUITEKeys Voice Commands Reference

This reference identifies the most common commands you may use with SUITEKeys. Please refer to SUITEKeys help for additional information.
Unless otherwise specified, you may use continuous speech (i.e., speak normally without artificial breaks between words).

Words inside […]’s are optional.

Note: Use these commands to temporarily turn the microphone on/off, if you wish to use voice for something else, such as talk to another human.
To turn the microphone completely off, select "Off" in the File menu of the SUITEKeys application window. To turn the microphone on from the off state, select "Listen" in the File menu.

Note: The system beeps if you try to press a pressed key, or release a non-pressed key.

Note: Due to the difficulty in recognizing these letters, you have to use discrete speech here (i.e., speak each letter separately).

For the same reason, SUITEKeys supports the Military Alphabet (International Communication Alphabet) to type letters. It can be recognized continuously (i.e. command "Alpha Bravo Charlie Alpha" will send letters "abca" to the operating system).

Note: The range for screen coordinates is from "zero zero" (top-left corner) to "ninety-nine ninety-nine" (bottom-right corner).
<Direction> may be "left", "right", "up", "down", or "<1, 2, 3, …, 12> o’clock".

The special keys listed below may be repeated "<1, 2, 3, …, 99> times".
For example "Backspace three times" may be used to delete the previous three characters; "Left arrow five times" may be used to highlight the fifth item in a menu.

Note: Speaking any menu item within SUITEKeys will select that item. This excludes menu items having a crossed-out microphone icon.

SUITEKeys has a window for novice users (Maximized) and one for expert users (Minimized). Switch to the maximized window when you want to focus on what SUITEKeys is doing—this view provides maximum feedback. Switch to the minimized window when you want to use the computer (and forget about SUITEKeys)—this view gives you minimum feedback and occupies minimal display area.

SUITEKeys provides a prediction box. It will identify the most probable word based on what you have typed so far. It reduces the amount of typing you have to do. The box is attached to the mouse cursor for easy positioning (see Moving the Mouse Cursor).

SUITEKeys works with other speech-enabled applications such as Dragon NaturallySpeaking. To switch to such an application, place the mouse cursor over its desktop icon (or menu entry) and say "Open Speech Application". This puts SUITEKeys temporarily to sleep so that the other application can take over the audio card. Once the audio card is released (when the other application terminates), SUITEKeys wakes up automatically. You may need to fine-tune the delay found in SUITEKeys Preferences—this corresponds to how long it takes for the other application to initialize and take over the audio card.
